Hackerspaces in Space: Year 2 expands on last year’s event by adding an exciting educational component. For every $300 we raise on our Kickstarter project, we will donate 1 Space Balloon Kit to a school inside the United States, chosen at random from a list of applicants. The Space Balloon Kit will be built using the model of the winning HSIS team, showing your work counts this year. You’re doing it to inspire young students!
To send a weather balloon, with payload, into near-space to capture pictures of the Earth’s horizon, to return the payload safely to the ground, and to retrieve the payload.
Registration begins Monday, September 26. The launch window closes on November 28, 2011.
Anyone who registers their team on the Hackerspaces in Space website.

Bragging rights, a cool trophy made by the members of Workshop 88, and the honor of building next year’s trophy.
To adhere to FAA regulations. Exceeding the limit will disqualify your team even if the FAA lets you launch.
Right now, get a move on it!
